Marathon Labelers
Marathon® is a series of compact, linear roll-fed labelers that feature SMARTdrive®, the labeling industry's first all electronic drive train. Marathon is available in three different models that can deliver everyday production speeds of 50 to 650 containers per minute, depending on container size, machine model and machine configuration. Each model is available with either Allen-Bradley or Siemens controls and drive trains.
Based on a four or five-axis servomotor design supported by up to four variable frequency drives (VFD), SMARTdrive offers less mechanical complexity than other labeling machines. By reducing mechanical complexity, Marathon can deliver simpler operation, faster size changeovers, increased productivity, and lower total costs of ownership over the life of the machine.
Marathon's higher productivity and lower total costs of ownership are driven by:
- Fast Size Changeovers: 15 minutes from production speed to production speed on straight configuration models, and 25 minutes from production speed to production speed on U configuration models.
- 40% Fewer Mechanical Components: fewer mechanical components and an all-electronic drive train means less maintenance and lower spare parts expense over the life of the machine.
- Recipe Driven Repeatability: production parameters for every container and label combination are stored as recipes in the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). When the recipe is selected, the PLC sets all servo axis to the appropriate starting positions, eliminating the need for tedious and time consuming manual adjustments.
- Intelligent Registration Control + Invation™ Cutters: Marathon's Intelligent Registration Control System combined with Invation Cutters increase productivity by keeping the labeler in-registration, even with stretch prone labels, labels with variable coefficients of friction, and labels with out-of-specification eyemarks.
Marathon SLA, XLA, and XLUA models are available with either Allen-Bradley or Siemens components and controls platforms. Allen-Bradley is standard, and Siemens is offered as an available option. Allen-Bradley models include all
Allen-Bradley servos, VFDs, PLCs and HMIs. Siemens models include all Siemens servos, VFDs, PLCs and HMI's.
